American Real Estate Journal

About the Journal

Who is behind it

The American Real Estate Journal is edited by Julian Calvo, who works with property management companies at LeadSimple, a software company for property managers. Booking a call on this site books time with Julian. The Journal is free and nothing in it is legal, tax or financial advice.

Editorial standards

  • Every legal fact, figure or date links to the official source: the state statute, the federal regulation, the agency or the original document.
  • Sources are cited in APA style at the end of every guide, with the date they were retrieved.
  • We never cite a source we did not read. When only a secondary source was available, the page says so.
  • Every page shows when it was last reviewed. Each state is reviewed after its legislative session ends.
  • No guide is published with fewer than five cited sources.

How the state data is built

Each state page answers the same 16 questions plus licensing. Every answer carries its citation and a label:

  • Checked against the official source (689)
  • Secondary source (92)
  • Not yet verified (35)

A state page is only offered to search engines once at least 12 of its 16 answers are checked against the official source.

Corrections

If something is wrong or out of date, tell us the state, the topic and the source. Corrections with a statute citation get fixed first. LinkedIn.

Not legal advice

This site summarizes laws to help you know what to look up. It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. Before acting on a notice, eviction, deposit or fair housing question, read the statute and talk to a local attorney.

Privacy

The site has no forms or accounts. It uses cookie-free analytics to count visits. If you book a call, you do it on Calendly under its own privacy policy. Checklist progress is stored only in your own browser.
